House/Family Room Management Intern


Qualifications

  • Current college; interested in non-profit management, but can come from a variety of backgrounds including, but not limited to, the humanities, social work and/ or management.
The House Management/Family Room intern will work closely with the House Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Ronald McDonald House/Family Room. This includes house operations, managing volunteers, developing best practices and building relationships with families in order to make their experience in Denver as comfortable as possible.
 
The Intern will have the opportunity to interact with various parts of the organization including development, communications, and facilities management. An average day will consist of a variety of tasks around the House.
 
Time Commitment: One semester minimum, 10 hours per week.
 
Compensation: Unpaid
  • 10+ hours weekly
  • Days negotiable; unpaid
Reports to: House Manager
 
Requirements:
  • Eagerness to learn and serve
  • Ability to communicate
  • Able to lift 25 pounds
  • Commitment to the principles and mission of the House
  • Flexibility; each day will bring something new
Skills Acquired After Internship Completion

Public Relations/Marketing Internship


Qualifications

  • Current college student pursuing a public relations, communications, marketing or related degree
Time Commitment
  • 15-20+ hours weekly
  • Days negotiable; unpaid
Reports to: Development and Communications Staff
 
Position Overview
 
Responsible for supporting the public relations and marketing efforts for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver, Inc.
 
Responsibilities
 
Assist with the organization and marketing of various fundraising events in addition to various marketing projects, including:
  • Writing/producing newsletter content
  • Writing press releases and feature stories
  • Assiting with online marketing efforts
  • Assisting with updating all social media sites
Necessary Skills
 
Intern candidates should be proficient in the following:
  • Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Written copy, including press releases, feature stories and website copy
Skills Acquired After Internship Completion
 
Intern candidates will be able to enhance their professional résumé by building skills in the following areas:
  • Gain a working knowledge of non-profit development and communication
  • Create various writing and design clips to enhance résumé

Development/Fundraising Internship


Qualifications

  • Current college student pursuing a public relations, communications, non-profit management or related degree with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Position Overview
 
Responsible for supporting the Development Office for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver, Inc., primarily for fundraisers and community events.
 
Responsibilities
 
Assist with the organization, research and marketing of various fundraising events, grants and major donors:
  • Support all aspects of fundraising efforts, including auctions
  • Researching possible grant opportunities for RMHC
  • Assisting fundraising campaigns and online fundraising
  • Attending committee meetings as needed
  • Assist with social media, twitter, Facebook, etc.
Necessary Skills
 
Intern candidates should be proficient in the following:
  • Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Intern candidates will be able to enhance their professional résumé by building skills in the following areas:

  • Experience in event planning, researching donor prospects
